Inspired by the beautiful works of wearable art designed by Mexican fashion designer, Denisse Kuri, Vía Raíz has partnered with Denisse and the talented artisans she collaborates with to create an exclusive line of home textiles.
Meticulously hand-loomed, the Juana pillow features intricate brocade work, whose designs have been passed down for generations. In the Chiapatecan highlands, brocade is seen not only as an art form but as a sacrosanct ritual, passed down by gods and perfected by ancestors.
This piece is handwoven by Juana Hernandez, an indigenous artisan from San Andrés Larrainzar, Chiapas, on a backstrap loom using locally-sourced cotton. From start-to-finish, it takes Juana 15 days to hand loom each pillow.

*All items sold by Vía Raíz are handmade. Therefore they may have small "imperfections" or slight variations of color and design between each product—we think that is part of the beauty of having something made with care by individual artisans.
