A Note From The Founder,
First, I'd like to say how incredibly grateful I am to all of you. Having your support, during this time, means so much.
As a business owner and first-time mom to a newborn, I'm definitely navigating through unchartered waters. There's so much uncertainty that I'm surrounded in with each passing day. I know I'm not alone. This has been a challenging time for everyone.
Vía Raíz is a very small business run just by me. It was born out of my love for Mexican craftsmanship and design and as a way to honor my heritage. And just like every small business, I'm fighting to survive. My brick-and-mortar shop has been closed since March 14th and I'm truly thankful to every person who has shopped online and shared Vía Raíz with their community.
As we face an unpredictable future, not knowing what each day will bring, discretionary spending is a true luxury. Please know that if you choose to shop with Vía Raíz during this time, it's not frivolous. You are supporting a small business owner who has poured her heart and life savings to pursue an idea, that I believe deep down in my core, stands for something. Small business owners need you to be a part of this fight with us.
Even as Vía Raíz struggles, I'm aware that I'm in a privileged position. As the daughter of Mexican immigrants, immigration rights is near and dear to me. Currently, undocumented immigrants don't qualify to receive benefits from the $2 trillion federal stimulus for COVID-19 relief, nor do U.S. born children of undocumented immigrants. At every turn, our undocumented neighbors face barriers and challenges to recovering from disasters. During this time, I'll be donating 10% of sales to the Oregon Workers Relief Fund and the Farmworkers' Covid-19 Pandemic Relief Fund. For you, who have steadfastly supported Vía Raíz and its mission, I'm offering 10% off everything on the site.*
During this challenging time its your support and the faces of our designers and artisans that keep me motivated and keep this vision alive.
Stay Strong, Stay Safe, Stay Hopeful.
