Half Dutch - half Mexican, Emma Gavaldon van Leeuwen Boomkamp, studied Product Design at the Hogeschool Van Amsterdam, focusing on macramé, fabric and blown glass.

Her interest in Mexican culture and artisan techniques has led her to collaborate with artisans and designers in different parts of the country such as, the "Veni, Vidi, Vidrio" project in collaboration with Lera Moiseeva in San Miguel de Allende and artisans from Teotitlán del Valle in Oaxaca.

She is currently carrying out a project with large format henequen pieces in the Yucatan thanks to the Jóvenes Creadores grant.
