This piece showcases the beauty that results from the use of raw materials. Made from volcanic rock and tzalam wood, and finely crafted by artisans in the Yucatan, the Tépetl Molcajete truly tells the story of its origins. This small molcajete (mortar & pestle) is the perfect size to crush and grind salt, pepper, and other spices.
Measurements: 5.9" x 2.9"
Care: Because it is a porous and natural material without any coating, it will darken when in contact with oils. This special piece needs your care before its first use, if it is going to be in contact with food, you should wash it with a brush, water, soap and cut raw corn grains with the tejolote (mallet) and it will be ready.
*All items sold by Vía Raíz are handmade. Therefore they may have small "imperfections" or slight variations of color and design between each product—we think that is part of the beauty of having something made with care by individual artisans.
